Missionary
History(1990-96)

1990-1991:
San
Pedro Sula, Honduras |
|
Reluctant to go
at first to Honduras, Lisa eventually fell in
love with both the people and one person in particular,
Alfredo Umaña, who would eventually become
her husband. A hard-working team was formed and
all five of CCI’s training manuals were
written during this two year period.
| |
1992-1993:
Wheaton,
Illinois |
|
Ten years of practical
experience on the mission field primed Lisa for
her
graduate studies at Wheaton College and made her
eager to learn
the theory behind the practice.
Her studies dovetailed perfectly into CCI /LA’s
need for a comprehensive Leadership Development
model which was the theme of her thesis.

1993-1995:
San Salvador, El Salvador |
|
Arriving shortly
after the peace accords were signed, just as the
Salvadorans found freedom from 12 years of civil
war, so Lisa found freedom from a strong tendency
towards work-alcoholism. The Salvadorans rambunctious
sense of humor and loyal friendships were a tremendous
blessing.
The focus of these two years was to write the
teacher’s editions of
the training manuals.

1995-1996:
Pittsburgh,
Pennslyvania |
|
A brief furlough
lasting 9 months enabled Lisa the opportunity
to lead a discipleship group for high school girls
and also prepare for her wedding,
April 13, 1996. |
