Over half of the Latin American
population under the age of 20. Church and para-church
ministries need novel, creative means to attract and
impact them for Christ. This Games Encyclopedia provides
a wide variety of healthy recreational options to
satisfy a young person’s need for adventure,
excitement and contact with nature. Once at the camp,
or at youth group or another social function, he or
she may hear of Christ for the first time.
The provision of this key resource to churches, camps
and para-church ministries, containing over 1000 well-illustrated
games, with user-friendly instructions in Spanish
can play a strategic role in reaching children and
young people for Christ.
Lisa's personal testimony: "The games are touching
lives"
“The pages were strewn
on the ground. There was a pile of ropes off to one
side together with some 4"x4" planks, some
balls, buckets, and other odds and ends.
I
knelt down and picked up the papers. I smiled from
one ear to the other. My gaze swept over the campgrounds
until I saw what I was looking for. Action. Movement.
The organizers of the event had arrived several hours
early to set up the recreational activities they had
chosen.
The papers I held in my
hand were photocopies from the first volume of a Games
Encyclopedia I had compiled and translated back when
I worked in Camp Kikotén, Mexico in 1987.
I put the papers back on the ground, placing a rock
on them so the wind wouldn’t blow them away
and stood up. Alfredo slipped his hand into mine and
said: "Hmm, makes all the effort seem worthwhile,
doesn’t it?"
I looked up at him, with
tears in my eyes, and said: "Yes it does, it
truly does."
As Alfredo and I continued our evening walk around
the Bible Institute that serves as a retreat center
just a ½ mile from our home, I imagined hearing
the peals of laughter and shouts of joy from the campers
who would soon be participating in these games. I
thought of the second volume to the Game Encyclopedia
that we have almost finished compiling, translating
and illustrating. This second volume will contain
double the amount of games and activities the first
volume had, around 1100.”
